DrivenRoad Safety Model
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has developed a data-driven road safety model that has been officially adopted by the Ministry of Road and Transport in India. Over 32 states and Union Territories in India have agreed to use this model to improve road safety, emergency response, and trauma care. The IIT team has signed agreements with state governments to develop a roadmap to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal of reducing road fatalities by 50% by 2030. The model includes a mobile application that enables police personnel to enter details about a road accident, along with photos and videos, to create a unique ID for the incident. This data will be analysed by IIT Madras to suggest necessary corrective measures in road design. The project aims to enhance road efficiency and assess the impact of improvements made.
